Chapter Four - The Best Man

Saturday morning and the weekend’s special guests were starting to arrive - the wedding party.

The dynamics of wedding groups are always so interesting...all that hope and expectation for happy ever afters, all that hype and expense, all that heady atmosphere of romance being gradually distilled into pure lust as the day’s alcohol consumption begins to take hold.

I spotted him as soon as he walked into reception, arrogant and aloof, sharing a joke with the rather nervous looking young man who was clearly the groom.

And from the way he seemed to take possession of everything around him with just a quick glance, I guessed that he must be the Best Man.

I smiled as he approached the desk: “Good morning sir. Can I help you?”

He was dressed in a tight grey T shirt that clung to a hard, well defined chest - nipples large and erect beneath the skimpy fabric - while the short sleeves fitted tight to strong arms, a Celtic tattoo just visible as it snaked around the left bicep and tricep.

The face was chiseled, the chin covered by a couple of days of dark stubble - I couldn’t help wondering what it would feel life rubbing against me, scratching my chest as he sucked my nipples.

And then there were the eyes, a penetrating almost harsh bright blue, shining with the intensity of twin lasers.

If he knew what I was thinking, he showed not a flicker of recognition as, without returning my friendly smile, he said: “We’re booked.”

He gave me the names - he was Rob Linton and the groom, still looking nervous, was Dan Welles.

“Absolutely sir. You have a deluxe suite and Mr Welles, has a room to prepare and dress in for now and then his luggage will be moved to the bridal suite once the ceremony has begun.”

The groom had already wandered off towards the lift as I spoke and, after quickly turning to see where his friend was, Mr Linton leaned in close over the desk as he almost whispered to me: “This is his big day and I don’t want anything to spoil it. Do you understand?”

“We’re quite used to wedding parties sir. But if you do have any special needs, queries or personal requirement simply call down to reception and ask for me. My name’s Joe. I’m the owner and manager.”

The response was little more than a grunt as my surly guest picked up the two key cards I had placed in front of him, turned and walked over to join his friend at the lift, which came just a second later.

Perhaps just five minutes after that the reception phone rang and I picked it up.

“Is that the manager?” I recognised the voice straight away. “My shower’s not working. Sort it!”

The receiver slammed down without giving me any chance to respond so I went over to the lift and made my way up to the third floor.

I knocked at the door and my awkward guest appeared immediately, now wearing
